Hi Reader, Corduroy is the piece that's accepted. I haven't seen any other artist making work like this: thick layers of oil and cold wax, carved into, as luscious as frosting, bright and cheery. The colors bring energy, the pattern stability. It speaks of having fun in an ordered universe! The Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts Show was scheduled for Sept 27, but it rained cats and dogs that day, so it was postponed to their rain date of October 11 (tomorrow). Once again, the weather forecast is for a deluge, so it's postponed and we'll try again next year. Both times the weather was picture-perfect all week. Go figure.
I've been up to my eyeballs learning storytelling on social media with Creator College. The genre involves being concise, relevance measured in seconds, and using visual + text + audio (techie skills required). If you can keep viewers attention for 3 seconds, you win! I've been making some fun posts on Instagram or Facebook. Links below. |

Hi Reader, I want to learn a new language, to become fluent in it. I've been dabbling in it for years, speaking with such a heavy accent I'm pretty much unintelligible. Too old to learn it? Hogwash! I've learned languages before, and know how it works. First, your desire has to be greater than the pain and frustration of being totally disoriented, sounding like a toddler, and basically making a fool of yourself. Second, you have to go to the place where it's spoken and interact with real...
Hi Reader, Have you noticed I'm trying some new things lately? I've been taking a course called Creator College, and it's got my creative juices flowing! One thing I'm learning is to share more than just my paintings. I want to share some of the happiness and hope behind them, too. And that got me thinking. What if something you see every day could lift your spirits? A color, a painting, a photograph, or even a simple image can remind us of something good when life feels overwhelming. I call...
Hi Reader, I was invited to a Trauma Healing conference in Nairobi last October, a gathering of people from all over the world working to help people heal from the trauma of war, ethnic conflict, displacement, sexual abuse, domestic violence, kidnapping, disease, trafficking, poverty and the list goes on. I knew I'd see old friends and I wanted to bring a gift. But what? It had to be small enough to carry and I'd need about 60. My greeting cards! I prepared my heart and mind as I I wrote...
